In order to cater to the rising need of research publications in teaching, The Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell of Department of Management of KCL-Institute of Management and Technology in collaboration with Toss Global Management UAE, conducted an online FDP on “Publication in ABDC/SCI and High Impact Journals: Do’s and Don’ts” by Dr Sonia Singh (Director, Toss Global Management UAE). Massive response received from professors as well as research scholars from Indian and foreign universities for online FDP. More than 380 registrations were received all across the globe out of which 100 participants were allowed to attend the FDP.
Dr. Inderpal Singh (HOD, Management Dept.) presented key note address, he welcomed the resource person and stated that Research is a Journey from Unknown to Known. It is entering into an Endless tunnel of knowledge .When we start this journey we are sure that within short span of time we will be able to publish our Research Work in reputed journals , but with passage of time we realize that we have entered that tunnel of knowledge which is never ending. When we send papers in these journals there is a long queue and also we get number of revisions. As a result sometimes we resort to unethical practices and make huge payments to get papers published in these journals and sometimes we are unaware that after 5 years when we look back, these paid journals stand nowhere. The main objective of this FDP is to acquaint the faculty with the guidelines which must be followed while sending papers to these reputed journals, ethical issues involved in publication and the things which should be avoided.
The resource person highlighted the importance of research publications in reputed and high impact journals. She highlighted the procedure to be followed while sending research papers to ABDC/SCI journals. She laid stress on preparation of proper abstract with key words, review of literature, research design and tools to be used for effective data analysis. She stated that latest statistical tools and software’s should be used for data analysis and they should be based on objectives of the study. There may be two to three revisions needed by the journal but the researcher should keep his patience and after these revisions the journal will publish their research paper. She stated that paid journals should be avoided as most of them are fake.
Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director, Academic Affairs) stated that KCLIMT strives towards promotion of quality education and research among its stake holders and these FDP’s provide platform to faculty members to sharpen their skills and remain updated.
Dr S.K Sood (Director, KCLIMT) congratulated the department of management for organizing a successful FDP and sharpening the skills of teachers who are Torch Bearers of the Nation.
