The students of KCLIMT organized Deepawali Fest 2019 in order to inculcate entrepreneurship skills among the students and also to aware them about the environment and persuade them to celebrate Green Deepawali.
The students were given a platform to showcase their ideas and creativity and transform them into products and services. This was a great opportunity to hone the skills of budding entrepreneurs in the college.
Total 20 teams from Department of Management, IT and Hotel Management participated in the event and organized various stalls showcasing Interior Decoration, , Decoratives, Customized Envelopes and bookmarks, Games, Nail art, gift items, Water bottles and Lemonades, games ,hand made products, decorative candles, diyas, food items, salids, FMCG products , etc.
At the food court Young Entrepreneurs wore their chef hats, tied on their aprons to provide tasty chat,Bhel Puri, Vada Pav, Chocolates, cup cakes, cakes, cutlet, sandwich, pizzagolgappe, brownie with milk shakes, chocolate shakes , fruit salad many more mouth watering dishes. Handicrafts, crafts and lamps, suits and jewellery, handmade gifts, Diya’s, water miniature show pieces were also displayed by students
The fest also featured the participation of the students of KCLIMT, Lyallpur Khalsa College of Engineering and Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women in various cultural events such as PPT Presentation ,Rangoli, Face painting, Collage Making, Poster Making and salad making.
The event started with inaugural function in which student presented Sarasvati vandana to welcome dignitaries. After that PPT presentation depicting teaching methodology. Infrastructure ,extra curricular activities, merit positions and placements was given by Ms.Parul Nanda . S.Balbir Singh Memorial Award for Educational Excellence was awarded to the Principals of Top most schools of Punjab who have worked hard for the promotion of education among young generation by S.Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director,Academic Affairs), Sh Niranjan Singh (Deputy Director ,Directorate of Enforcement),(Dr.S.K Sood (Director,KCLIMT),Dr.R.S Deol (Deputy Director AA,KCL Group) ,Dr.Inderpal Singh (HOD,Management) & Mr.Kamal Nain Sharma (HOD,IT).
The awardees include : Mr Kanwal jeet Singh Randhawa (Principal,M.G.N Public School,Adarsh Nagar), Dr Rashmi Vij (Principal,Police DAV Public School),Ms Ritu Kaul (Principal.Delhi Public School),Mr.Jatinder Dadwal ((Principal,M.G.N Public School,U E II),Ms Navneet Kukreja (Principal,Guru Amardass Public School),Dr Saksham Singh (Principal.Army Public School),Mr.Satnam Singh (Principal.KV-I),Mrs Sarla Mishra (Principal,BSF Sr Secondary School),Mrs Gurinderjeet Kaur (Principal ,Nehru Garden School),Mr Naresh Sharma (Principal,Sai Dass School),Mr Sawtantar Pathania (Principal,DSSD Public School),Mr Ranjit Kumar (Govt Sr Secondary School,Phagwara),Ms Barinder Kaur (Govt Sr Secondary School,Jalandhar),Mr Barjinder Kaur (Doaba Khalsa Sr Seconadary School) etc.
The fest was graced by the presence of special invitees accompanied by faculty members. Visits of Parents of students, locals and also ex- students of the Institute made the occasion all the more memorable.
A sales dairy was maintained wherein feedback of sales and experience of the fest was recorded by the participating students. More than 100 entrepreneurs participated in the FEST displaying various products and services. Each and every product was made by the students themselves. The students with Best Stalls were also facilitated.
The Chief Guest Sh Niranjan Singh (Deputy Director ,Directorate of Enforcement)( gave a lot of praise for this fest organized by the Institute. He said that youth are the future of the country. Today’s era is of entrepreneurs. We should provide opportunities to the youth of the country to become entrepreneurs. For this, several skill centers are also being opened in the country. And it is highly appreciable that an Institute has organized this fair to promote the art of entrepreneurship among its students.
On this occasion S Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director ,Academic Affairs) stated that today students should come forward and become job givers instead of job seekers. Only then our economy can be put on right track. Government is taking many initiates like Skill India, Make in India etc and the need of hour is only to direct the prospective entrepreneurs in the right direction .
Dr S.K Sood (Director, KCLIMT) stated that the idea behind organizing this Deepawali Fest is to encourage entrepreneurship among students and channelize their efforts in right direction towards building of the future of the nation as well as making young generation conscious about environment and persuading them to celebrate Green Deepawali.
Dr Inderpal Singh (HOD,Dept of Management) presented vote of Thanks and stated that idea behind organizing this Deepawali Fest is to first have association with great academicians of the region and facilitate them for their efforts in promoting education among our youth and it is because of them that we are standing here. As stated by Ms.Parul Nanda in PPT, that our Institute believes in sharing of knowledge under CSR Initiative and our faculty members and students will be pleased to have joint projects with your schools for dissemination of knowledge. Second objective is to encourage entrepreneurship among students and channelize their efforts in right direction towards building of the future of the nation as well as making our young generation conscious about environment and persuading them to celebrate Green Deepawali.
Students were of the opinion that the event was very helpful in transforming their ideas .The students got a pedestal wherein they could show their business acumen. The Fest gave the students an overall exposure and insight into the challenges of being an entrepreneur.
