An awareness seminar on “Vector Borne and Water Borne Diseases” was organized by Social Sensitization Club of Department of Management of KCLIMT, Jalandhar on 29th October’ 2018 for dissemination of awareness to postgraduate students of MBA & MCA regarding prevention of vector borne and water borne diseases. Dr. Satish Kumar (EIS, MD) and Dr. Shobha Bansal (District Epidemiologist) during their expert talk shared that these vector / water borne diseases have taken lives of many in India and across the world. Educated the students on the causes of Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunia diseases; and suggestive step which should be followed to prevent them from spreading. Further, advised the students the correct way of tepid sponging for relief in case of high fever. The speakers also highlighted the importance of balanced diet in our present lifestyle. Thus, suggested the accurate calorie intake by informing the students about the calorie value of different foods. The awareness seminar was highly appreciated by the students and faculty / staff of the Institute. The resource persons for the awareness seminar were honoured by the Director (Dr. S. K. Sood), Dean Research (Dr. Inderpal Singh) and Prof. Rajan Dhir. The other faculty members present during the awareness seminar were Mr. Parveen Singh Kalsi (Coordinator – Social Sensitization Club), Mr. Hitesh Marwaha, Dr. Sonu Dua, Mr. Tarunjit Singh, Mr. A. S. Rai, Mr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Ms. Jaskamal Chatha, Mr. Punnet Thapar, Mr. Kanwar Sartaj Singh, Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Ms. Preety Sidana, Ms. Mohaneet Bedi and Ms. Anterpreet Kaur. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dean Research (Dr. Inderpal Singh) who highlighted that prevention is the crucial for eradicating the menace of these vector / water borne diseases. The Director (Dr. S. K. Sood) and the Head-Department of Management (Er. Ramandeep Singh Deol) appreciated the efforts of Coordinator – Social Sensitization Club for successful conduct of the seminar.
