Social Sensitization Club of KCLIMT to organized a “Workshop on Cash Less India” on 11TH of December 2016 to support the Demonetization initiative of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and to create awareness among people particularly Senior Citizens who are very less aware of using digital cash .The workshop focused on Making India a Cash Less Economy.
A total of 65 senior persons ranging between the ages of 50 -70 years participated in the workshop. The people were given knowledge about various alternatives of making payments without using cash /Currency notes. The faculty members and students will make senior citizens aware of using various modes of digital cash such as mobile banking, online bill payments, online LIC Premium payments, mobile banking, payments by using apps such as paytm, railway tickets booking, dish tv recharge, mobile recharge, online shopping etc.
Citizens were also made aware of security concerns involved in making payments through this medium. They were guided to frequently change their passwords, to keep their passwords secret and not to share them with anybody. Also they were guided that password should contain alphanumeric characters and it will be good if some symbols are also added. In this case it will be very difficult for hackers to crack the passwords and transactions will be safe.
S.Sukhbir Singh Chatha (Director,Academic Affairs) stated that there is doubt among people of India particularly senior citizens of country regarding security issues involved in digital cash disbursements. Such types of workshops are necessary to create awareness among the citizens and promote the Government Initiative towards making India a Cash Less Economy.
Dr.S.K Sood (Director) stated that majority of senior citizens do not know how to use debit cards ,credit cards ,mobile apps etc for making payments. Also they question security issues in this regard. Hence it is duty of Educational Institutions to teach our citizens and create awareness among them regarding digital means of payments.
